Why I Love Small-Town Settings
Good morning, Marvellous Mavens! I hope your coffee is strong and you'll be able to get what you need to do done today. Especially since it's Monday again. But we can totally do this!
Now that your Monday motivation is going, I'd like to talk about a recurring theme that I see time and time again in books I read as well as the books I write: The small town setting.
Why do we love small town settings in books? Is it the cozy feel? I think that's exactly it.
I actually grew up in a small town, and I'm still here today(after some moving around when I was searching for something I finally found in my husband). I love the community feel. I love that I never have to actually use my library card because the ladies at the library have known me since I was a teenager. In fact, I used to volunteer in that library when I was in my teens and twenties.
I had my very first book-signing in the bookstore that used to be in my town. I totally think we need a bookstore here again. Half-Price Books, come on down!
So, yeah, you could say I'm partial to the small town trope in books as well. I feel like there is so much more heart in a town like mine that you just can't find in the city for a book.
Did I tell you I set my newest book, Grippy Sock Vacation, in my hometown? You can pre-order your copy on Amazon right now for a January 1st release!
